It's still amazing how time flies.....

2 years......I can't believe it's been 2 years. My sweet baby boy is 2. People will tell you that time flies, and you believe them, but you will really never know how fast until you yourself look back. Jack never has been a "little" boy, but he was my baby. Now, my baby is a toddler and amazing me everyday. My "little" boy is growing into a small person right before my eyes. Being a parent is the hardest job I have ever had, and I love and cherish every minute of it.

2 years ago today, I was still in the hospital. I was recovering from the infection that cropped up after my delivery. I spent 11 days in the hospital after Jack was born and I wasn't able to be there on Jack's first night at home. There were a lot of scary times while I was in the hospital. Times when I wasn't sure that I would be okay, but in the end things worked out and I have a happy healthy boy to love. Over the past 2 years there have been more problems, but looking back I realized a few things.

I have spent:
2 years (actually more than that) working nights.

2 years balancing working as a nurse with being a mom.

2 years dealing with daily pain and fatigue left after I had Jack.

2 years of doctor's appointments...his and mine.

2 years changing wet and poopy diapers.

2 years waiting for and loving every time I hear the word 'Momma'.

2 years watching this little baby boy grow into a little man.

2 years, huh........It seems like a lifetime, that passed in the blink of an eye.

My first trip to Ikea

So on Sunday, Mike and I decided that we would venture up to Ikea in Seattle to pick up a few things for Jack. We decided that we needed to put a smaller table in the front room and I wanted to get Jack an easel so he hopefully colors less on the tables. We made the venture up there in the big one ton but by the end of the trip realized that we really could have just take the car. Anyway, we left the store with a table, 2 stools, and easel with rolls of paper, a few cups for Jack, and a cool new light for Jack's room. It projects colored stars, moons, and planets onto the wall. Jack thought that was pretty neat. There is one star that hits about in the middle of his room and he loves to stand right in the middle of it. When we first hung it up and tried it out he pointed to the wall and said 'blue star'....he was actually pointing to the blue star. This kid is smart. Well, at least I think so. Here are a few pictures of the redecoration of the living area, and Jack's bedroom.

Jack's Pool Party

Jack had his pool party today and it turned out great. We were hoping to get set up in the room a little before we actually did but it was fun none the less. A big thank you to Michelle for taking pictures....they turned out great. Thank you to everyone that showed up. Jack was very excited to see you all.

This was the basis of Jack's party. I decided to make frog cupcakes. I found the idea on the internet and thought, it can't be that hard. It wasn't really but there was a bit of trial and error.....

I made a lot of cupcakes. It was a lot. 48. From start to finish I was standing in the kitchen the whole time. I was pretty sore after ward, but they were worth it. My army of frogs......

Well, hello froggie dear......

One stickey boy helping Momma bake.

Quentin and Jack are 10 days apart. No, really.... 10 days.

Pool Pictures. Jack had a blast, except for the time he was floating face down in the pool. I snatched him up pretty quick, but it still scared him..... scared me a little, too. It wasn't too bad because he was still moving. If he wasn't flailing about, I would have been more concerned.

I bought some inflatable frogs for the kids to take home. They were pretty cute and made for a nice decoration.

We had pizza and cupcakes. Mmmmmm......

The birthday boy.

The kids brought down most of the balls to play with. Seems like they had a blast.

After we finished with the party, we met the Perez family at Chuck E Cheese. Jack got in a few more hours of playing before heading home. Here are a few pictures of the event.
